      <image:title>Home - Hi! I’m Dan.</image:title>
<image:caption>I have a personal and professional interest in the digitization and preservation of cultural heritage, with an emphasis on legacy audiovisual materials. I am passionate about preserving resources that allow us to document our past for the future. My work is rooted in a lifetime of making, sharing, and talking about music and media.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This lab came together over the course of a year, supporting in-house transfer of multiple open-reel tape formats, DAT, and compact audiocassette. Open-reel tape and DAT were digitized in a single-stream, while cassette transfers were performed up to 8 at once. Tasks included acqusition and specification of equipment, treatment and layout of the room, and digitization workflow development that maximized throughput and ergonomics within a given budget. A former storage closet, this was one of three labs I was tasked with during my time at Smithsonian.</image:caption>
